AGRICULTURAL PROJECT DETAILS

This project is situated at Krobey Real, Siem Reap, and through these projects we hope to supply fish and vegetables to our poorest families and provide an income for our Centre.

Each staff member is from our poorest families.  We relocate relevant families from the slums of Mondul 3, and provide training, housing, employment and education for their children at Krobey Real.

Egg Farm:  Phase 1 of this project has been our Egg Farm where we have built chicken coops to house 1,500 laying hens.  We are currently producing approximately 1,700 eggs per day and have suppliers in place to buy all eggs, which provide financial support for our community.

Fish Farm: Phase 2 of this project which is currently in place is a fish farm which again will provide jobs and an income for our community.

Mushrooms: Phase 3 is mushroom farming. A mushroom House is established, and various varieties of mushrooms will be produced.

Vegetables: Phase 4 includes various forms of vegetables and fruit. The land is primed for various vegetable crops including rice.

Village housing: Phase 5 is to establish a village of 21 families adjacent to the Farm. Every family will either be employed by New Hope or self employed with a small business.  This village will also have a  park and playground area and communal washing area.

It is our long term aim to build and provide a Community Market whereby we can sell our agricultural and farming produce as well as provide an opportunity for our families to set up their own individual market stalls so that they can become self sufficient.

Our long term goal is to ensure New Hope is more self-sustainable and less reliant on donations. To this end we are working on a number of sustainability projects including a Fish Farm, Egg and Agricultural project.
