Volunteer with New Hope
New Hope Cambodia is a grass roots, yet rapidly growing non government organization (NGO) that relies heavily on the support of volunteers to enable it to continuously provide humanitarian aid to the few hundred families it supports.
New Hope’s Volunteer Program is open to people of all ages, singles, couples and families from all walks of life. The main qualifications are enthusiasm, commitment and a flexible attitude. Prospective Volunteers must sign and adhere to New Hope’s Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct. This policy conforms to the general principles of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. Volunteer placements can range from one week to one months.
There are three areas requiring volunteer support:
· New Hope Community School
· Helen Bonner Health Centre
· Community Outreach Program
New Hope Community School educates 600 students daily, teaching English, math, computer skills, moral and gender equality, sewing and sport.
We are always in need of fluent English-speaking volunteers to support our Khmer teachers in the classrooms with pronunciation, and thinking outside of the square.
Classes run daily between 08:00 and 10:30 and again from 14:00 to 18:00.
We ask each volunteer to commit to the morning or afternoon sessions.
The Helen Bonner Health Centre welcomes professionals, particularly doctors, nurses, opticians or dentists who are interested in gaining experience in a third-world country. We accept Volunteers in this area for a period of 1 week to 1 month. However longer-term volunteer applications will be considered.
New Hope Community Outreach Program provides an opportunity for those who wish to volunteer in a Social Work capacity. Working with families in crisis situations is both challenging and rewarding. It involves visits to the community, family and individual assessments, problem solving and reporting. Volunteers for the Outreach Program must have the ability to commit to a placement of one month.
